Insurance & Medicare
Understanding your options
If you have lymphedema and Medicare Part B, you may have coverage for certain medically necessary lymphedema compression treatment items.
As of January 1, 2024, Medicare covers eligible lymphedema compression treatment items—including standard and custom-fitted daytime and nighttime garments, compression wraps, bandaging supplies and certain accessories—when coverage requirements are met. Items must be prescribed by an authorized practitioner and furnished by an enrolled DMEPOS supplier.
Medicare coverage is specifically for the treatment of lymphedema under this benefit; coverage isn't extended to non-lymphedema diagnoses through the lymphedema compression treatment benefit.
Coverage through Medicare Advantage and commercial insurance plans can vary, so it's important to check with your specific plan.
